Our April 2024 show features an Artist Choice Juried Exhibition

Exhibit runs from March 28-April 27

Reception: Saturday, April 6 from 2:00-4:00 pm

Our annual Artists Choice juried art exhibition is an open call to all artists to submit up to 3 pieces of work.  We are looking for 2D and 3D art in drawing, painting, glass, wood, printmaking, mixed media, weaving, sculpture, textiles, photography and much more.  The works should be original.  Awards of $300 for best of show, $200 for runner-up and $100 for 3rd place will be given.  A special “Bonifas Featured Artist Award” will be given by the Bonifas Art Center of Escanaba.  There will be a $25 non-refundable application fee.

The juror for this show will be Charles Colbert.  Charles did his undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago (1968) and received his PhD from Harvard University (1978). He is the author of several books and many articles on 19th century American art.  His teaching career spanned 37 years, at Boston College, Middlebury College, and Portland State University.  Retiring in 2012, he moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  He has long sustained a devotion to creating art, an undertaking he now pursues avidly, exploring several subjects
and media from landscape painting to portraits to doing collages, using oils, acrylic and oil pastel. In the
past he had an exhibition at the De Havilland Fine Art Gallery, Boston MA, and has shown his work at the
Alberta House on several occasions.
